UnMute is a spoken English practice app. These terms are written in plain language on purpose. Using UnMute means you agree to them.
UnMute is practice, not certification. It gives you rooms to speak in, honest observations about your delivery, and material to work from. It does not grade you, score you, or predict any exam result. The Exam Room rehearses the format of IELTS and TOEFL speaking; it is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or a substitute for the official tests. TOEFL is a registered trademark of ETS. IELTS is a registered trademark of the British Council, IDP and Cambridge.
UnMute is not medical care, therapy, or treatment for anxiety or any other condition. If speaking distress is affecting your health, please speak to a professional.
You sign in with your email and a one time code. No passwords. You are responsible for keeping access to your email secure. You must be at least 16 to use UnMute.
Every plan opens every room and every feature. Plans differ in one thing only: speaking-hours. The free trial gives you your first thirty speaking-minutes whole. Paid plans are billed monthly and described on the what's included page. Prices can change; changes never apply to a month you have already paid for. You can cancel any time and keep access for the period you paid for. Unused speaking-hours do not roll over.
Your recordings are yours. The material you paste into the Rehearsal Room is yours, stays encrypted, and can be erased by you without trace. You give UnMute permission to process your recordings for one purpose: producing the transcription and delivery observations the practice depends on. We do not use your voice to train models and we do not sell it.
Passages borrowed from literature are served under the US public domain standard, with attribution and the original one tap away. The rest of the app's content belongs to UnMute. You may not scrape, resell, or republish the material banks.
Do not abuse the service: no attempts to break authentication, no automated bulk use of the speech or generation endpoints, no using the app to produce unlawful content. We can suspend accounts that do this.
UnMute is provided as it is. We work to keep it accurate and available, but we do not promise uninterrupted service or specific outcomes. To the extent the law allows, our liability is limited to the amount you paid in the three months before the claim.
If these terms change in a way that matters, we will say so plainly in the app before the change applies. Questions: hello@iamunmute.com.
